Balance Training

Balance Reach Training to Address Balance Disorders in Older People with Stroke
This is a proposal to develop and establish the clinical efficacy of a Balanced Reach Training Protocol (BRTP) of dynamic standing balance, which will be capable of assessing and training balance function across the spectrum of aging, disease, and injury.

Balanced Reach Training Platform to Address Balance Disorders in Older and Neurologically Disabled Veterans
This is a proposal to develop and establish the clinical efficacy of a Balanced Reach Training Protocol (BRTP) of dynamic standing balance, which will be capable of assessing and training balance function across the spectrum of aging, disease, and injury.

Engineering-Based Balance Assessment and Training Platform
This proposal significantly advances engineering and psychophysical methods to address existing gaps in the diagnosis and treatment of balance impairments.


Cognition & Mobility

Evaluation of Functional Near-Infrared Spectroscopy in Assessing Perfusion During Cognitive and Mobility Tasks
This study aims to examine real-time changes in blood oxygen levels in the brain during tasks testing thinking and mobility.


Improving the Assessment and Treatment of Chronic Pain in Veterans with Serious Mental Illness

This research study will assess relationships among chronic pain, psychiatric symptoms, and related functional impairment.


Whole Health

Whole Health(y) Aging with Gerofit
The program will offer exercise classes, healthy aging seminars, group nutrition sessions, cooking demonstrations, and produce box delivery service. The classes are delivered virtually. Veterans are also provided the opportunity to care for a companion dog through the Companion Dog Foster Caregiver program (non-virtual), with dog adoption as an option.
