A New Way to Learn How to
Make the Most of VA Health Care

Photo of Dr.Adam Robinson, Jr., MDWelcome to the latest edition of HealthWatch! We've put together some useful articles to help you stay healthy in 2017, along with updates about how the VA Maryland Health Care System can assist you throughout the year.

We know that navigating the VA can often be overwhelming. To help, we recently produced a new patient orientation video to provide the basic information that you need to know to access the programs and services available to you throughout the VA Maryland Health Care System. The new patient orientation video is presented in a viewer friendly format, with the content divided into 24 sections (most under two minutes long). Covering topics from the appointment check-in process and pharmacy services, to long-term care options and everything in between, this new resource has what you need to know to take advantage of your VA health care.

You can watch the new patient orientation video online at www.maryland.va.gov/newpatients.asp. You can also request a free DVD copy of the video by calling our Community Outreach Office at 800-949-1003, ext. 6071. If you do not have Internet access or a DVD player, you can also visit the Enrollment Centers at the Baltimore and Perry Point VA Medical Centers to watch the video.

Whether you are newly enrolled or have been receiving care from the VA Maryland Health Care System for many years, I encourage you to take a look at this new video. You can watch it in its entirety, or you can choose to watch the sections that are of specific interest to you. The new patient orientation video is also a great resource for Veteran family members and caregivers as well. Thank you for allowing us the honor of serving your health care needs.

Sincerely,

Adam M. Robinson, Jr., MD
Director, VA Maryland Health Care System
