The Baltimore Support Group for our visually impaired and blind veterans.

Dear Veterans,
I am happy to announce the revival of The Baltimore Support Group for our visually impaired and blind veterans. These have been challenging times and we will make the best of our circumstances for now under Covid restrictions following VA infection control guidance.  Our support group has started by phone via dialing into a VANTS line provided in this letter. The group will continue by phone until Covid restrictions are lifted and at that point we will resume face to face meetings at the Baltimore VA. 
The purpose of this group is the following:
  1. To promote education and awareness about visual impairments and functional loss to foster adjustment to a visual impairment.
  2. Teach coping strategies and share available VA and community resources to support veterans experiencing vision loss.
  3. Encourage peer support, counseling, emotional support and training to improve quality of life and maximize participation in daily routines.  
  4. Make choices that are positive steps toward regaining independence and a sense of purpose.
  5. Increase your knowledge of tips, technology and tools available to use at home and in the community.  
Our meetings take place from 10 AM -11 AM with the following scheduled dates-second Wednesday of the month.
