VA Maryland Health Care System

Thank a Veteran this Holiday Season

red, white and blue flag covered holiday ornament and white snowflakes, blue background and happy holidays in white text,

The holidays are a good time to see those freedoms and democratic values in action since we celebrate with our individual and cultural traditions.

During this holiday season, I'd like to take the time to thank Maryland's Veterans for their service and sacrifice in the armed forces.  I'd also like to thank the entire VA Maryland Health Care System team for what they do each and every day in serving the needs of Veterans.

This is an important time in our history, a time when our servicemen and women are protecting our nation and our way of life.  Because the holidays are also a time to gather with family and friends, we owe a debt of gratitude to those still serving, and to our Veterans who came before them.  As a 35-year U.S. Navy Veteran, I understand the culture of military service, the challenges Veterans face when transitioning back to civilian life, and the oath they took to protect the freedoms and democratic values on which our nation was founded.  The holidays are a good time to see those freedoms and democratic values in action since we celebrate with our individual and cultural traditions.

While we can never adequately pay the debt of gratitude we owe those who wore the cloth of the nation, we can make sure that Veterans are aware of all the services available to them.  As the new Director of the VA Maryland Health Care System, I want our Veterans to know that our team is working hard to deliver safe, quality and compassionate care.  We are also working hard to make sure that our services are accessible and we are doing everything in our power to become more agile to address Veterans' needs and concerns in a timely manner.  We're dedicated to providing patient and family-centered care, including to our women Veterans who may not know all the services available to them throughout our health care system.

As the holiday season fills our schedules with hustle and bustle, as we strive to find the perfect gifts for our loved ones, I ask that you remember the greatest gift of all:  good health.  If you know Veterans not yet enrolled in the VA health care system, regardless of their ages, encourage them to do so.  Enrolling in VA health care may be the greatest gift Veterans can give their families because it represents assurance that they can remain strong and healthy.  If you've served in the military, your mission is to stay healthy and battle ready and the VA Maryland Health Care System team is here to assist you.  We look forward to serving your health care needs in the New Year!
I extend my best wishes to all for a joyous and peaceful holiday season and a new year filled with good health and prosperity.
Sincerely,

Adam M. Robinson, Jr, M.D.
Director of the VA Maryland Health Care System
