The Perry Point VA Medical Center, a division of the VA Maryland Health Care System, is one of 14 sites selected nationwide for construction of a Fisher House. Constructed and donated to the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Department of Defense by the Fisher House Foundation, the Fisher House facilities offer the comforts of home to families and caregivers of veterans and service members receiving care at a VA medical center or military hospital.  Family members and caregiver may stay in a Fisher House at no cost to them so they can be at the bedside of their loved one during treatment for an illness or injury.  The 14 Fisher House sites will support access to care for thousands of veterans and their families traveling to VA facilities for treatment.  To date, the Fisher House Foundation has built and donated 31 Fisher Houses to the Department of Veterans Affairs, with an additional 16 in various stages of construction planning, and 40 Fisher Houses to the Department of Defense.  In 2016, Fisher Houses accommodated more than 23,000 families, saving guests more than $3 million in lodging expenses.

"Having a Fisher House on our Perry Point campus fits in perfectly with our model of patient- and-family-centered care," said Dr. Adam M. Robinson, director of the VA Maryland Health Care System.  "The new Fisher House will be available to family members and caregivers of veterans receiving care at the Baltimore and Perry Point VA Medical Centers, and the Loch Raven VA Community Living & Rehabilitation Center."

Details about the Perry Point Fisher House, such as size and exact location, are still being determined.  For more information about Fisher Houses, visit the VA Fisher House Program.
