Free Flu Shots for Enrolled Veterans
A simple, free shot could protect you from getting sick this flu season!
Free flu shots are now available for Veterans enrolled in the VA Maryland Health Care System.
A Walk-in Flu Clinic will be held at the Baltimore VA Medical Center on the second floor behind the elevators, Monday through Friday (except Federal Holidays), from now until December 20, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Flu shots are given in your upper arm, so please wear clothing that will allow easy access to your upper arm.
Here are additional ways enrolled Veterans can receive free flu shots:
- During a scheduled Primary Care or Specialty Care Clinic visit at any one of the VA Maryland Health Care System facilities.
- By walking into the Primary Care Clinic at any one of the VA Maryland Health Care System facilities, weekdays, between 8:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
- By visiting your neighborhood Walgreens. Walgreens will be providing no-cost Standard flu shots to enrolled Veterans from mid-September through March 31, 2019 (or when supplies are exhausted). No appointment is needed; simply go to any Walgreens, tell the Pharmacist you receive care at a VA facility, and show your Veterans Identification Card and another form of photo ID. VA and Walgreens are national partners and your immunization will be updated electronically to the VA electronic medical records system. If you received your flu vaccine outside of the VA Maryland Health Care System or Walgreens, please call your provider and tell us where you went to get your flu shot, your full name, your last four and your date of birth so that we can update your electronic medical record.
The first and most important step in preventing the flu is to get a flu vaccination every year. Help keep yourself, your family, and others healthy this flu season by getting the flu vaccine!
