Clinic Coordinator Appointed for the Cambridge and Pocomoke City VA Outpatient Clinics

Shelly L. Cheesman, a resident of Easton, Md., has been appointed as the clinic coordinator for the Cambridge and Pocomoke City Veterans Affairs (VA) Outpatient Clinic, which are part of the VA Maryland Health Care System. 

As the clinic coordinator, Cheesman is responsible for the day-to-day administrative operations and oversight of the Cambridge and Pocomoke City VA Outpatient Clinics.  She is directly responsible for supervising administrative staff, scheduling clinics and responding to customer service needs at both clinic locations.

The Cambridge VA Outpatient Clinic, which is located at 830 Chesapeake Drive in Cambridge, Md., is the largest outpatient clinic in the VA Maryland Health Care System with over 25,000 outpatient visits per year.  The Pocomoke City VA Outpatient Clinic is located in the Downtown Professional Building at 101 Market Street in Pocomoke City, Md.  Both clinics provide general outpatient care, preventive health and education services, various medical screenings and referrals to specialized programs and inpatient services throughout the VA Maryland Health Care System.

Chessman began her VA career in 2000 as a medical administrative specialist responsible for overseeing veteran patient enrollment, eligibility and administrative duties for the Cambridge and Pocomoke City VA Outpatient Clinics.   Prior to her VA career, Cheesman worked as a medic for the United States Air Force at Andrews Air Force Base, and as a phlebotomist/electrocardiogram technician for the Shore Health System in Easton, Md.

Chessman is currently pursing an Associate of Arts Degree in Human Services, Mental Health Program, at the Chesapeake Community College in Wye Mills, Md., and is the recipient of the 2007 VA Maryland Health Care System’s Leadership Award for Collaborative Problem Solving.
