VA Maryland Health Care System Appoints Edward Litvin Facilities and Engineering Service Chief Home > Publications > News Releases > 2008 News Releases > April 30, 2008 BALTIMORE - Edward Litvin, a resident of Churchville, Md., has been appointed chief of Facilities and Engineering Service for the Veterans Affairs (VA) Maryland Health Care System. Litvin, who has more than 22 years of engineering and management experience, began his VA career as a safety engineer at the Baltimore VA Medical Center in 1986. As the chief of Facilities and Engineering Service, Litvin will manage a staff of more than 180 employees – including engineers, technicians, trades people, and clerical employees – at three inpatient facilities and five outpatient clinics throughout the state. He is also responsible for a fleet of 200 government vehicles and a patient/employee transportation network covering Maryland and the surrounding areas. In addition, Litvin will coordinate more than $20 million in annual construction projects throughout the health care system. Prior to his appointment as chief of Facilities and Engineering Service, Litvin severed as the associate chief engineer for Maintenance and Engineering Service at the Perry Point VA Medical Center and as the associate chief engineer for Maintenance and Operations at the Baltimore VA Medical Center. Litvin received his bachelor’s degree in Engineering of Mines from West Virginia University in 1985. He later earned his master’s degree in Business from the Johns Hopkins University in 1993. Litvin has been a Maryland registered Professional Mechanical Engineer since 1998 and continues to share and enhance his expertise through memberships with the American Society for Healthcare Engineering, the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation, and the National Society of Professional Engineers.
