Baltimore VA Medical Center’s Newly Remodeled Outpatient Specialty Clinic Tailored for Improved Patient Care

The VA Maryland Health Care System formally re-opened the outpatient medical specialty clinic area on unit 4A at the Baltimore VA Medical Center during a ribbon cutting ceremony on January 24, 2008.

The 4A clinic was temporarily closed and completely renovated, from top to bottom, to maximize the space utilization of the area.  The newly renovated clinic area features spacious exam rooms, a comfortable patient waiting area, improved patient flow, a more accessible registration area, new public restrooms, modern facilities and warm and pleasant atmosphere.

The area offers outpatient medical specialty clinics including cardiology, arthritis, pulmonary, gastroenterology, infectious disease, diabetes/endocrine and early renal insufficiency. The other clinics that utilize the new area include neurology, the MS Center of Excellence, pain management, spinal cord injury, and rehabilitation medicine.

The renovation, which replaced an outdated clinic floor plan that previously functioned as an inpatient unit at the medical center, began in June of 2006.
