Veterans Bowl with Comrades at the Perry Point VA Medical Center

For the members of the Marine Corps League Detachment 1198 of Harford County, every Tuesday is a special day.  Since early 2007, members of the League have volunteered on Tuesdays at the Perry Point Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center to bowl with hospitalized veterans on the nursing home care unit.

“It is a great feeling to see our fellow veterans waiting for us when we arrive to bowl with them,” says Donald Benson, Senior Vice Commandant of the Marine Corps League.  “I think I get more enjoyment from this recreational activity than they do.”

The Marine Corps League recently hosted an awards ceremony to recognize each patient bowler and to present them with gift certificates.  Additionally, each of the top three bowlers for the year was recognized with a trophy and certificate for their outstanding accomplishments.
