Military Order of the Purple Heart Contributes $5,000 for Veteran Patients at the Baltimore VA Medical Center

The Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 122 in Annapolis, recently donated $5,000 for new flat screen televisions for two inpatient medical care units at the Baltimore Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center, a division of the VA Maryland Health Care System.
Currently, hospitalized veterans who share a room on the medical care units at the Baltimore VA Medical Center also have to share a television.  Since the medical center serves a diverse veteran population with generational differences, it can be challenging for some patients to agree on television programming choices.  Adding flat screen televisions by each patient bed will eliminate this challenge and allow hospitalized veterans to make individual viewing choices.

According to Dennis H. Smith, Director, VA Maryland Health Care System, “The addition of flat screen televisions by every hospital bed will help to improve patient comfort levels, which can aid the healing and recovery process for our veteran patients.”

Because of the donation by the Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 122 and the support from other veterans service organizations and community groups, the VA Maryland Health Care System is able to enhance programs and services offered to hospitalized veterans.
