In his capacity as the Associate Director of Operations, Mr. Costie leads the day-to-day operations of Environmental Management, Facilities & Engineering, Information Resource Management, Information Security, Nutrition and Food, Pastoral Care, Pharmacy and Police & Security Services for the VA Maryland Health Care System. His principal areas of responsibility include planning, coordinating and evaluating the operations of these services. Additionally, Mr. Costie serves as the site manager for the Baltimore VA Medical Center and the Loch Raven VA Campus.

Mr. Costie’s scope of responsibility within the VA Maryland Health Care System include support to facilities throughout the state, including the Baltimore and Perry Point VA Medical Centers; the Baltimore VA Rehabilitation & Extended Care Center and five community based outpatient clinics located in Baltimore, Cambridge, Fort Howard, Glen Burnie and Pocomoke City, MD. He also serves as the Chairperson for the Space Committee and the Executive Committee of the Administrative Services for the VA Maryland Health Care System.

A native of Virginia, Costie holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Tech. His commitment to continuing education resulted in certifications as an energy manager and health care facility manager. Costie is also a 2004 graduate of Leadership VA, which is a rigorous training program for management level executives in the Department of Veterans.

Costie is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and is a State Board Member of the Ohio Society of Healthcare Engineering.
