VA Maryland Health Care System Makes 10 Best Places to Work in Baltimore List

In the March 24, 2006, issue of the Baltimore Business Journal, the VA Maryland Health Care System was officially named as one of the 10 Best Places to Work in Baltimore for an organization with 500 or more employees.

The VA Maryland Health Care System competed with over 170 other businesses, health care systems, universities and financial institutions throughout the state for this prestigious honor. Additionally, the health care system has the unique distinction of being the only Federal agency in Maryland to be named as one of the 10 Best Places to Work in Baltimore for 2006.

The 10 finalists for the Best Places to Work competition were selected based on employee responses to an online survey that was conducted by the Baltimore Business Journal for a three-week period. To even be eligible to participate in the competition, the health care system needed a minimum of 375 employees to participate in the online survey. The VA Maryland Health Care System enthusiastically embraced the competitive spirit as a part of the Best Places to Work competition with over 1,700 employees (out of 2,500 employees) completing the online survey.

The VA Maryland Health Care System joins the ranks of Johns Hopkins Health Care System, Johns Hopkins University, LifeBridge Health, MedStar Health, Mercy Medical Center, AAI Corporation, PHH Arval, Enterprise Rent-A-Car and Towson University as a part of the 10 Best Places to Work in Baltimore in the Best Large Business Category. Based on the employee responses to the online survey, the VA Maryland Health Care System achieved a 7th place ranking for the 10 Best Places to Work in Baltimore competition, ahead of Towson University, Johns Hopkins Health Care System and Johns Hopkins University.
