Patient Representative

If you have a problem with the care or service that you receive while you are an inpatient at the Perry Point VA Medical Center, immediately report the issue to a member of your health care team. If the problem is not resolved to your satisfaction after contacting a member of your health care team, we encourage you to contact one of our patient representatives. You can contact a patient representative by calling (410) 642-2411, extension 5097, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Veterans Benefits Counselors

Veterans benefits counselors are assigned to the Perry Point VA Medical Center to assist you in matters concerning VA benefits such as compensation, pension, government insurance, education, GI loans and vocational rehabilitation. If you need information or assistance, you can reach the Veterans benefit counselor at (410) 642-2411, extension 5016. You can also ask a staff member on your nursing unit to contact the Veterans benefits counselor for you. The Veterans assistance office is located in building 361, room GA-104.

Women Veterans Coordinator

Specific concerns relating to the health care of female veterans should be referred to the women Veterans coordinator at (410) 642-2411, extension 5768. A member of your health care team can also assist you in contacting the women Veterans coordinator.

Minority Veterans Program Coordinator

The minority Veterans coordinator focuses on the needs of minority Veterans. If you have questions about VA programs, benefits and services for minority Veterans, please contact the minority Veterans program coordinator at (410) 605-7214.

Homeless Veterans Coordinator

The goal of the Health Care for Homeless Veterans Program is to end homelessness among Veterans through outreach efforts and community partnerships. Veterans in the program participate in treatment and rehabilitation to enable them to achieve a better quality of life. For additional information about the Health Care for Homeless Veterans Program, please contact the homeless Veterans coordinator at 1-800-949-1003, extension 5506.

Social Work Assistance

Social workers are assigned to each inpatient until at the Perry Point VA Medical Center. These social workers are available to assist you with personal or family issues affecting your care. Our social workers have information about many community agencies and resources that may be available to help you and your family during your inpatient stay. Our social workers can also assist you with special post-inpatient care, such as counseling or assistance with locating a nursing home or a residential care facility. Inform a member of your health care team if you need to see your social worker for assistance.

Sexual Trauma Counselors

As a Veteran (women and men), you may have experienced a sexual trauma while on active duty. Since trauma is isolating and leaves you feeling disconnected and different from others, sharing your experiences and feelings with a sexual trauma counselor can help. To contact a sexual trauma coordinator, please dial 1-800-463-6295, extension 7365.

Notary Public

A Notary Public is available to you while you are an inpatient at the Perry Point VA Medical Center. Contact a member of your health care team if you need the services of a Notary Public.
